Employee Feature: Ryan Boyd

July's feature on Markley Motors Corner is our Master Technician, Ryan Boyd. He has been with Markley Motors for over 11 years and is working in our Service Department at our GMC , Buick Dealership and Pontiac and Saturn authorized repair facility.

Outside of work, Ryan Boyd's passion is motorcycles. In his spare time he custom fabricates bikes. One of the bikes he built was featured on the July cover of Cycle Source magazine.

It all came about, in 2008, when Ryan's good friend Ken Conte had the idea to customize his basic bike. Ken enlisted the help of Ryan Boyd and Boyd Motor Company in Loveland, Colorado. They spent the next two years fabricating the sleek, yet powerful bike.

The only original parts of this bike were the front of the frame (which they tweaked on Ryan's frame jig), the oil tank, and the engine.  Eveything else was either custom fabricated or modified from other parts they found. Ryan custom made many of the parts including the aluminum headlight bucket, that he hand-turned on his lathe. All the metal parts were chromed and scrubbed with a Scotch-Brite pad for a unique "dull" finish that really compliments the cherry red paint job.  This bike is definitely an eye turner.  It is sleek, sporty, compact and not your usual bulky chopper with bulging tank and ape hangers that reach to the sky.

Nice work Ryan Boyd!
