Markley Service Moving Day

MARKLEY'S CONSTRUCTION LOG . . .

SERVICE MOVING DAY . . .

SEPTEMBER 18, 2010 . . .

Service's last day inside the building was this past Saturday. Their new home is located in the trailer behind the service bays on the West lot. Thanks to the many hands who helped move and set up the new facility. It was a lot of work, but it sure does look nice. It will make a cozy home for the next 8 months while the building is being remodeled.

Mick, is at peace with the new Service Trailer.

Shane is installing our Early Bird, Night Owl drop box.

The guys, figuring out what's going and what's staying.
One last service ticket before the final move.

Nugent Moving has been a big help.
Tom is ready to dis-mantle things.
"No, maybe it needs to go over here!"
Cstomer Write-Up is starting to take shape.
Jack is ready for business, with his new express service station.
Dave is all set to help Honda customers!

The customer waiting lounge is looking cozy!
Standing room only!
Jo Ellen mumbles, "Where is my quiet corner?"
Paul asks, "Where did you put the TPS reports?"
"I had them over there!" said Tom.

Markley Moving Day

MARKLEY'S CONSTRUCTION LOG . . .

MOVING DAY . . .

SEPTEMBER 15, 2010 . . .

If you haven't heard . . . Markley Motors south building is undergoing heavy reconstructive surgery. Now that GMC and Buick have moved to the old Saturn building, Honda is moving to the South building and is slatted to be shut down for 8 months while it gets a new makeover to encompass the "Honda" look.

Today is a monumental day. The entire showroom, and service areas are being vacated so that the construction crew can get going on this giant project.

Look for Honda sales in the old Honda building, working alongside the Internet department.

Look for Honda Service in the trailer located on the Used Lot behind the service bays. You can access this new drive-up facility by heading West on Monroe to the stop sign, turn right and head North to the new Service Trailer on the left. Our service personnel will take over from there, business as usual.

ENJOY SOME OF THE OTHER MOVING DAY PHOTOS:

Tom Goodwin checking out the new space.

Service Check-In area is moving to the trailer.

Carrie and Cindy's office has been re-located.
Mick Kellner, biting his nails already?

Purge those files Mick!

Jennifer will be moving to the North showroom to greet you there!

Good thing parts is staying where they are!

Jo Ellen will miss her quiet little corner.

Yes, Quick Service is moving to the trailer too.

Let's dance in our new ballroom!

Jaime is already stressed.

The front showroom cubicles are being stored away.

Did you grab your chair?

Gary and Greg are already comfortable in their new location!

The New Honda CR-Z is Here!

IT HAS ARRIVED!

Yes, we had a transport truck pull on the lot yesterday with three of the all-new Honda CR-Z compact cars on the back--all of them for us. This exciting hybrid, two seat, zippy, little car is a throwback from the Honda CR-X, but is clearly refined and energetic.

GREAT PRICE POINT!

BASE 6 SPD MANUAL MSRP = $19,950

BASE CVT MSRP = $20,600

EX 6 SPD MANUAL MSRP = $22,160

EX CVT MSRP = $22,160

EX 6 SPD MANUAL W/NAV MSRP = $23,310

EX CVT W/NAV MSRP = $23,960

This vehicle is loosely based on the small Honda Fit compact platform. It is slightly shorter, several inches lower, but wider than the Fit. In looks, it has a more wider characteristic, and a slightly aggressive sports car design to the front end.

Powering the Honda's CR-Z is a 1.5 - Liter engine mated with a small electric motor. The gasoline-electric hybrid uses Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology that switches between the electric motor and gas engine for optimum fuel economy. It comes with the option of a 6-speed manual transmission or a Continually Various Transmission (CVT).

In America, this vehicle only comes as a two-seater, with cargo trays in the back where the jump seats would normally be. The back folds flat and there is a cargo shade that draws across that hides cargo from peering eyes through the back hatch. The model we show here comes with cloth floor mats.

This vehicle looks the part inside and out. The stylish interior has that urban metallic feel to it, and the lines on the exterior are clear-cut, edgy, and muscular.

Honda's mission in designing this vehicle was to make a small, energetic vehicle that is fun-to-drive while providing economical, clean technology that comes with all the comfort features and conveniences we have come to know and expect.

The instrument panel has a bright look to it. The steering wheel is similar to other Honda Models but the center tachometer gauge is more prominent and the blue illuminated panels with the digital speedometer with engine info graphics, warning lights and data are appealing to the eye.

This vehicle is geared towards those who don't have passengers to haul in their vehicle. Someone who wants a sporty two-seater, without having to hassle or wrangle with a soft top, or the commuter who wants something fun do drive back and forth to work.

You really need to come drive this car to experience how fun it really is!

Employee Feature: Ryan Boyd

July's feature on Markley Motors Corner is our Master Technician, Ryan Boyd. He has been with Markley Motors for over 11 years and is working in our Service Department at our GMC , Buick Dealership and Pontiac and Saturn authorized repair facility.

Outside of work, Ryan Boyd's passion is motorcycles. In his spare time he custom fabricates bikes. One of the bikes he built was featured on the July cover of Cycle Source magazine.

It all came about, in 2008, when Ryan's good friend Ken Conte had the idea to customize his basic bike. Ken enlisted the help of Ryan Boyd and Boyd Motor Company in Loveland, Colorado. They spent the next two years fabricating the sleek, yet powerful bike.

The only original parts of this bike were the front of the frame (which they tweaked on Ryan's frame jig), the oil tank, and the engine.  Eveything else was either custom fabricated or modified from other parts they found. Ryan custom made many of the parts including the aluminum headlight bucket, that he hand-turned on his lathe. All the metal parts were chromed and scrubbed with a Scotch-Brite pad for a unique "dull" finish that really compliments the cherry red paint job.  This bike is definitely an eye turner.  It is sleek, sporty, compact and not your usual bulky chopper with bulging tank and ape hangers that reach to the sky.

Nice work Ryan Boyd!
